Seamless integration and future expansion

Located near Worcester, JAT Fruit’s packhouse has embraced renewable energy with a hybrid solar system designed to enhance efficiency and energy security. The installation includes 280 high-output 560W solar panels, 12 advanced batteries totalling 172kWh of storage, and a 500kW hybrid inverter. This system integrates seamlessly with the packhouse’s existing energy infrastructure, which features 130kWp of solar panels, two 50kW SMA inverters, and both a 315kVA and 100kVA generator.

By optimising power distribution and storage, the new hybrid system reduces reliance on the grid while ensuring stable operations. The packhouse will also be exporting surplus energy back to Eskom, further maximising the value of their solar investment.

JAT Fruit is so pleased with the system’s performance so far that plans are already in place to expand battery capacity with 18 additional units—reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.

This project exemplifies 2Zero50’s dedication to delivering smart, scalable solar solutions for the agricultural sector.
